Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures
ABOUT Accutax
Behind on U.S. Taxes While Living Abroad?
Some Americans living overseas discover years later that they were still required to file U.S. tax returns and report certain foreign financial accounts.
The IRS Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures may provide an avenue for eligible taxpayers whose failure to comply resulted from non-willful conduct to become compliant.
Accutax Business Center helps taxpayers evaluate eligibility and prepare the required filings.

How the Streamlined Foreign Offshore Procedures Work
For qualifying taxpayers residing outside the United States, the submission generally involves a specified number of delinquent or amended income tax returns and FBARs, together with the required certification.
Eligibility and the appropriate filing approach should be evaluated carefully based on the taxpayer's individual circumstances.
Our Streamlined Filing Services
We can assist with:
- Initial compliance review
- Review of prior filing history
- Preparation of required delinquent or amended tax returns
- FBAR preparation
- FATCA and other international information reporting
- PFIC review and Form 8621 where applicable
- Calculation of applicable taxes and interest
- Preparation assistance for the required non-willfulness certification
- Submission organization and filing guidance
PFIC taxation and reporting can be particularly complex and may result in unfavorable U.S. tax consequences when not addressed appropriately.
Non-Willfulness Matters
Streamlined procedures are intended for taxpayers whose failure to report income, pay tax or submit required information returns resulted from non-willful conduct.
The facts and circumstances therefore matter. We do not recommend treating a streamlined submission as simply a package of old tax returns.
